The Founder – Antonin Raymond
Raymond Architectural Design Office was founded in 1921 by Antonin Raymond, a famous American architect who had brought a variety of architectural achievements and influences to Japanese contemporary architecture today. Along with British architect, Josiah Conder, Antonin Raymond was recognized as one of the very first pioneering architects contributing to the success of Japanese modern architecture in the last century.
In 1919, Antonin Raymond arrived Japan, together with Frank Lloyd Wright to provide design consultancy and supervision for Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. Two years later, Antonin Raymond established his own design office in Japan that marked the beginning of Raymond Architectural Design Office today. During the interwar years, he had kept staying in Japan where he achieved most of his professional accomplishments.
Today, Raymond Architectural Design Office has been inherited and developed by experienced Japanese architects and experts with the aim of perpetuating Antonin Raymond’s original works and Design Philosophy.
